Our Story
ATLAS was founded by Oliver Fraser and Joshua Humphrey, two Chartered Engineers who met while working on UK defence programmes. They soon found they worked the same way. Start from first principles. Strip out unnecessary complexity. Keep things moving.
Over the past decade they have led design, assurance and delivery on multi-million-pound programmes in the UK and abroad. Between them they bring more than 25 years' experience. Along the way they kept seeing the same problem. Clients needed engineering partners who would take ownership, decide quickly and deliver products reliably. Too often they couldn't find them.
So Oliver and Joshua started ATLAS to provide it. They lead the technical work themselves. For clients, that means clear accountability, quick decisions and engineering they can trust.
Our Founders
Oliver Fraser
BSc MSc CEng MIMechE
Oliver is the Engineering Director and Co-Founder of ATLAS Critical Systems.
A Chartered Engineer with a background in Physics and Mechanical Engineering, his varied career brings over a decade of design experience across diverse, complex environments. His engineering designs can now be found from the London Underground to superyachts to complex defence experiments.
Prior to co-founding ATLAS, Oliver was Principal Engineer and Design Manager accountable for a portfolio of nationally significant defence research projects.
With a track record in leading highly performing and motivated engineering teams, Oliver's focus at ATLAS is to build the environment where exceptional talent can deliver exceptional capability to clients.

Joshua Humphrey
MEng CEng MIMechE
Joshua is Co-Founder and Managing Director of ATLAS Critical Systems, bringing more than a decade of senior engineering experience across the defence sector. He is a Chartered Engineer and has held numerous leadership roles.
Joshua has also led the design and delivery of complex experimental systems, developed high-precision engineering and diagnostic capability, driven advanced manufacturing initiatives and influenced significant investment decisions in UK government. His experience extends across UK and International defence programmes, where he has operated at senior technical level with UK government, UK industry and international partners.
Joshua is focused on building ATLAS into a global engineering business for the defence and nuclear sectors. He combines deep technical expertise with independent engineering judgement and technical leadership.
